Clay

Slab-building is a method of making pottery in which a thick slab of clay is rolled flat and cut into shapes.  The shapes are then joined to form an object.  The joined edges are scored and then slip (really wet clay) is applied to ensure the pieces stay together.

For this 3-D project, students used the slab-building technique to form a mug.  They then added designs, textures, and a creative handle to make their mug unique.
